ACMA Open Registration Cabling Course
(Old Austel License)

An Open Registration will enable a student to complete any task in relation to Telecommunications cabling. This course replaces the old AUSTEL and BCL License which required a cabler to do Endorsement courses if they wished to install specialist Telecommunications cabling.

These endorsements include

• Structured Cabling Systems (SCS)
• Optical Fibre
• Co-Axial Cabling
• Aerial Cabling
• Underground Cabling

Note - Integracom's ACMA Open Registration Cabling course replaces the previous Austel Licence Training Course

Under the requirements for Open Registration these endorsements are now voluntary. This effectively means that a cabler holding an Open Registration can legally install the above specialist cable types without gaining Endorsements on their Registration.

It must be noted however that even though a cabler may be legally allowed to install these specialist cables, holding an Open Registration does not make that cabler competent to install these cables correctly.

For this reason most reputable cabling companies will request cablers to have voluntary endorsements as part of their Registration.

For High speed Data transmission the most common endorsements are

• Structured Cabling Systems (SCS)
• Optical Fibre

Restricted Registration Courses are normally run as Part 1 of a full Open Registration Course.

There are three ways to complete this course

1. Full Time - 5 Full Days 8:00am - 4:30 pm
   
   
2. Part Time - 2 nights per week for 5 Weeks 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
   
   
3. Self Study - Minimum 4 weeks self study plus 1 Full day at the training centre

Course Content:

• Australian Regulatory Environment
• Cabling Practices to S009:2006
• Customer Switching Systems
• Introduction to ADSL
• Installation Practices

Practical:

• Telephone Connections
• 20 Pair Terminations
• RJ 45 Terminations

Assessments include:

• Theory Assessments
• Practical Assessments

Cost:

• $800.00 GST Not applicable
• $218.00 if CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND approved
• In Western Australia  CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND approval is normally applicable for students either currently working in the construction Industry or have worked in the construction industry within the last three Months
• It must be noted that this rebate scheme is an arrangement between the student and the CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND. Integracom Management Group and its associated companies do not form part of that arrangement.
