ACMA Open Registration Self Study Cabling Course (Old Austel License)

ICTTC 137B - Self Paced Study - Open Registration

Are you a qualified electrician or communications technician?

Have you previously worked for a telecommunications carrier either in Australia or overseas with documentation to support that experience?

If so you may be eligible to complete the theory module of this course under our self paced study guidelines utilising our resource manual and CD.

You will be required to attend a 1 day session at our training centre to complete a Practical Assessment and Theory Assessment.

If you are an experienced telecommunications Technicians / Engineer emigrating to Australia or coming on a year working visa from Europe, this course is Ideal as you can self study before arriving thus speeding up the process to obtain a cabling registration increasing your potential to gain employment quickly upon arrival.

This course is also ideal for technicians working in remote locations including Mine Sites and Oil Platforms.

Note - Integracom's ACMA Open Registration Cabling course replaces the previous Austel Licence Training Course

Pre requisites

Students are required to have worked in a technical industry prior to undertaking The course as self study.

Examples of this are

• Qualified Electricians  
  
  
• 4th year apprentice electricians who have installed ELV cabling as part Of their apprentiship
  
  
• Security Technicians with at least 4 years experience cabling in the field
  
  
• Telecommunications technicians who have worked for a Carrier in an exchange envirnoment
  
  
• Telecommunications Technicians from overseas with supporting documentation

Course Outline

An Open Registration will enable a student to complete any task in relation to Telecommunications cabling. It is a Telecommunications and Extra low Voltage cabling installation Course

It is a mandatory prerequisite course for technicians who wish to install Telecommunications cabling, security and fire alarm cabling, structured cabling and fibre optic cables in Australia.

  (d) Theory Assessment

Course Content

This course is based on Australian Standards
AS/ACIF S008:2006 and AS/ACIF S009:2006.

This course incorporates the following

1. Australian Regulatory Environment
2. Cabling Installation Standards
3. Cabling Installation Practices
4. Identifying cables used for Telecommunications
5. Basic Telephony and ADSL circuit
6. Practical applications including Telephone and Network Cabling
7. Smart Wiring using the CLIPSAL STARSERVE

• Cost - $800.00
  $218.00 if CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND approved
  GST Non-Applicable

In Western Australia an 80% rebate may be claimed from the CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND for successful completion of the course, by students working in the construction Industry.
